State of the Art: Internet of Things

Thu 3 May 2018 | FREE | FACT | Liverpool

How would your life change if your computer could interface with your oven? What if your appliances could communicate with each other influenced by your habits and activity? In what ways can technology further alter and impact our day to day lives, and how can businesses offer increased availability and application of this burgeoning sector?

Join LCR Activate for a deep-dive into the Internet of Things – an exploration of how increased technological interconnection of ordinary, everyday home-items (such as smart toasters or wearable sensors) can and will be used to shape our lives.

Our fourth State of the Art event will bring together SMEs from the Liverpool City Region to hear from creative and digital experts about IoT. This event coincides with the Living Room of the Future at FACT, an immersive experience that uses data to personalise media to people delivered through multiple devices, in a home environment.

Speakers include:

Ian Forrester, Senior Producer at BBC R&D

Phoenix Perry, Lecturer in Physical Computing and Games at Goldsmiths, University of London

Patrick and Jen Fenner, Founders of DefProc and Initiators of The Things Network Liverpool

Dr Áine MacDermott, Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security and IoT at Liverpool John Moores University

Our ‘State of the Art’ event series looks to demonstrate not just the cutting edge of technological realms, but to inspire and showcase the numerous direct, easily-accessible competitive advantages to be gained from employing them.
